Zakynthos (also known as Zante) is famed for its spectacular coastline. Boasting a series of hidden coves and bays, beautiful beaches and relaxed vibe, it’s not surprising the island is popular. While everyone has their own idea of what makes a beach beautiful, there are a few common characteristics across the board.
Undeniably the most famous spot in Zakynthos, the Shipwreck Beach (or Navagio) is only accessible by sea. Home to a stranded boat, the beach boasts stunning turquoise waters and sand and pebbles. But beware, due to the popularity of the spot, you will have to arm yourself with patience and be ready to face hundreds of visitors a time. The only way to secure the beach to yourself is to go during the off-season, you may even find a kind fisherman willing to take you there and come back to pick you up a few hours later.
